Validation status

The Science page explains the model. This page shows its review status.

Adding PFAS requires more than listing new packages. The benchmark library, reporting-limit logic, severity rules, and critical overrides must be updated for the specific PFAS analytes and methods.

Current status

What is ready—and what still needs sign-off

This is a transparent development checklist, not a claim that the Auraven Grade has already been independently validated.

Public methodology explanation

Drafted
The Science page explains weighting, ratios, penalties, nondetects, multiple findings, and critical-result safeguards.

PFAS package integration

Added
EPA 537.1 (18 analytes), EPA 533 (25 analytes), and EPA 1633 (40 analytes) are identified with method-specific MDL and RL values supplied for the package tables.

PFAS benchmark mapping

Expert review required
Each PFAS analyte needs a selected comparison value, source, jurisdiction, effective date, legal status, and sensitive-population note. A single benchmark cannot be assumed for the entire class.

Method and reporting-limit logic

Expert review required
EPA 537.1, 533, and 1633 differ in scope and reporting limits. Nondetect interpretation must consider whether the RL is below the selected benchmark for that analyte.

Severity and mixture rules

Expert review required
PFAS severity factors, class-based aggregation, double-counting controls, and any mixture approach must be justified and documented.

Critical score caps

Expert review required
Define when an individual PFAS result or combination limits the maximum Health score, overall grade, or action level.

Legal and health-language review

Required before launch
Have qualified toxicology/public-health and South Carolina legal reviewers approve the claims, disclaimers, referral rules, and customer-facing interpretation.

Bottom line: The Science page is item 9’s public-facing foundation. It is not the same as scientific validation. Adding PFAS means the underlying master scoring table must now be expanded and reviewed analyte by analyte.
